Biography
Lily Vetch is a London-based filmmaker, photographer, and producer. She began her career in fashion, working for industry icons like Nick Knight and Jamie Hawkesworth. Her drive to tell stories was ignited when i-D Magazine commissioned her to document the LGBTQi club night, Hungama, leading to a two-year project focused on four key creatives central to the event.
For the past seven years, Lily has concentrated on narratives that celebrate gender and identity, particularly within the South Asian community. Her work is deeply informed by years of engagement and discourse with the communities she documents. She has self-shot the Transgender community in Bangladesh, documented Ukrainian refugees in Poland, and worked with Uyghur survivors for charities, publications, and investigative projects. In 2019 she partnered with British-Bengali fashion designer Rahemur Rahman to co-direct their first feature documentary, Body of Our Own, which explores the Hijras (Trans) community in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Leveraging her background in documentary and fashion, she helps brands connect with empathetic audiences by collaborating with captivating individuals to tell the brand’s story.
Lily’s notable clients has included i-D Magazine, Helen Kirkum, Mastercard, Hero Magazine, L’Oréal, Kiehl’s, Sony, I Weigh, Elle India, The Uyghur Tribunal, Stonewall, USP.UK, and the TATE Museum.
